Current Team: Deanna Sullivan, ES MS Hi there! I’m Deanna Sullivan. I received a Bachelor’s of Environmental Studies and Psychology from St Lawrence University in 2020. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Studies here at ESF. I am particularly passionate about the extent to which public lands serve as proxies for societal issues while exemplifying our desire relationship with the environment. I am interested to learn more about how different management practices can ensure the coexistence of recreation and conservation on public lands. I am excited to work in the Weiss Lab and continue bridging the gap between social sciences and conservation research! Breath Hand, GPES PhD Breath is one of my (Jill W) PhD Students, she will be pitching in with our lab for Spring 2022. I am pursuing a doctorate in Environmental Studies focusing on Policy, Planning, Communication and Society (PPCS). I am a transdisciplinary researcher using mixed methods research to explore entry points for collective dialog and engagement which educates and empowers communities to demand action on environmental issues. I am particularly interested in investigating environmental values as a tool for bridging divides created by politics, identity, and ideology. Past Team Members: Jordan Elliot, MPS EFB Hello! I’m Jordan Elliott. I received a bachelor’s of Wildlife Science in 2020 from ESF and I returned in the fall of 2021 for a Masters of Professional Studies in Ecology! I plan to couple that M.P.S with a Masters of Public Administration from Syracuse University. My goal is to use my science background to inform policy and management in the public sector. I aim to have a good generalist knowledge of most aspects of terrestrial ecology to facilitate broad-spectrum management. I also have a background in statistics, and I have been working in the Weiss lab with data processing and analysis. Gabriela Wemple, MS SRM and Maxwell My area of study is Economics, Governance and Human Dimensions I want to work for the Weiss Lab because I want to learn how to manage recreational resources to preserve user access and the natural landscape. Maintaining healthy relationships between many stakeholders in a complex management issue and successfully promoting sustainable recreational behaviors is also of interest to me in this lab. I'm excited to be able to use my statistical analysis, mapping, and writing skills in the lab to contribute to this important research! Karina Lang, BS Conservation Biology, EFB Chris Koudelka, MS GPES Jonas Eaton, UG EEI I was interested in the projects currently underway, and also looking to build on my organizational and analytical skills and to improve my ability to teach others about the environment down the road. Hannah Kelling studied Environmental Science as a PhD student at SUNY-ESF, and contributed to the “Managing the New Hiker: Characteristics, Perceptions, and Behavior Trends among Alpine Trail Users in the Northeast” project, funded by the USDA’s McIntire-Stennis grant. Hannah enjoys the interaction between social science and conservation research. Breanna Hummel, BS Conservation Biology 2021 Brittany Wong, BS Environmental Studies 2021 My major is Environmental Studies focused on Communication and Society, I am minoring in Urban Environmental Science and Environmental Health and I'm interested in behavioral environmental studies. I am the Vice President of The Baobab Society and a tour guide/mentor for ESF's Office of Experiential Learning and Outreach. Eileen Brinck, BS Environmental Studies 2020 |
